Drowning Prevention Day

Take part in the Special Activities planned at City of Oshawa Pools for Drowning Prevention Day!Lifesaving Class participating in CPR instruction situation

In co-ordination with the Lifesaving Society, the City’s swimming facilities will offer educational programs and encourage responsible behaviour in and around the water.

Drowning is the second highest cause of accidental death in Canada, and is also completely preventable.

Drowning Prevention Day Activities

Activities will take place at various recreational facilities throughout Oshawa during the Leisure Swims.

Camp Samac Outdoor Pool

Camp Samac, Entrance off Conlin Road
Saturday, July 19: 2:00pm to 5:00pm

  • Take the Swim to Survive Challenge
  • Learn how to perform CPR
  • Learn how to access Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
  • Learn how to properly fit a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) or Lifejacket

Centennial Pool

Civic Auditorium Complex, 99 Thornton Road South
Saturday, July 19: 1:00pm to 4:15pm

  • Take the Swim to Survive Challenge
  • Learn how to perform CPR
  • Learn how to access Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
  • Learn how to properly fit a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) or Lifejacket

Donevan Pool

Donevan Recreation Complex, 171 Harmony Road South

  • Swim to Survive Challenge

  • Learn about Ice Safety and staying warm in cold water
  • Learn how to perform CPR
  • Learn how to access Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Saturday, July 19: 1:30pm – 4:00pm

South Oshawa Community Centre Pool

South Oshawa Community Centre, 1455 Cedar Street
Saturday, July 19: 2:00pm to 4:00pm

  • Take the Swim to Survive Challenge
  • Learn about Ice Safety and staying warm in cold water
  • Learn how to reach or throw a buoyant aid to someone who needs help
  • Learn how to perform CPR
  • Learn how to access Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
